The Quirky Spacebar (Model PSPBP-WH01) is a clever, sleek and elegant monitor stand that also serves as a 6-Port USB Hub. It’s made of aluminum and strong plastic materials for stability and support. It was carefully designed to save space while providing more USB ports and capabilities. This latest model is available in black or white, and although it’s marketed and aimed for Macs, you can definitely use it for your Windows PC.
The Spacebar stand is sturdy and supports up to 30.5 pounds (27-inch Apple iMAC). After placing and positioning your monitor on the top, this area still provides space to serve as a shelf for additional items. Underneath is suitable space to slide-in and store your Mac or PC keyboard (fits keyboards up to 18 x 1.5 inches)
This stand contains six USB ports for all your needs. My research on the web indicated some confusion or misunderstandings regarding the functions and/or versions of these ports. Therefore, I have stated the features of them as accurate as possible below:
- Four USB 3.0 ports in the front for syncing and charging
- Two USB 2.0 ports in the rear for charging
- One mini-USB port and one AC adapter port in the rear
Michael Cavada, a teacher at a school in Pennsylvania, invented the Spacebar. In addition to teaching photography, he runs a Mac lab at the school. Based on his true, personal experiences, he created the Spacebar to protect keyboards, make them flexible, and improve space and neatness. Michael presented his Spacebar to Quirky and the rest is history.
